Evolve my first Tyranitar, and...

The story is, after another day of hunting, I gathered enough Machop candies to evolve another Machamp. And the Machamp got Bullet Punch / Heavy Slam.
I found myself like a Kingdra at that moment - I kept breathing heavily because I'm in an outrage. It was the 5th fail Machamp since Gen 2. Why is it so hard for me to get a FIGHTer?
Then I just wanted to let off some steam. I decided to evolve the Larvitar I hatched two weeks ago. Should he fail, I was thinking that I would quit the game.
Then he got Bite / Crunch, which is, for the first time in months, an evo-success for me, after 5 Steel Machamp and 4 Steel or HB Dragonite.
It seems like to me that one evolution success requires many more sacrifice offering.

You've got 1 in 6 chances for evolving into a perfect moveset so statistically unsuccessful evolutions are gonna be a nightmare for every player.

I was lucky enough to evolve my first Tyranitar with Bite/Stone Edge but I've had my fair share of steel Dragonites and, just like in your case, Machamp is not my guy. Still don't have one with fighting moveset and my 2 most prominent ones - 100% and 98% IVs got Bullet Punch.

Steel is the common enemy of elite mons - I'm talking about Dragonite, Tyranitar, Machamp

That's a lot of Tyranitars...And with such high IV, moves don't matter since you'll get the highest placement

Evolving Machamps and Dragonites in gen 2 is a scary affair; there are only 2/6 good movesets for either of them - C+DP/CC and DT+Outrage/Hurricane. The chances of an evolution fail are quite high and candies are not exactly easy to come by (unless you have access to a Machop nest).

In Gen 1 there was not much love for Machamp so it was, whatever, for me. Dragonites in Gen 1 were also almost always good, with SW ones being very viable in gyms (at that time).

However in Gen 2, SW Dragonites are clearly outshone by DT/Os or DT/Hs so you would feel sucky if you got a Steel Wing or DT/Hyperbeam one.

And in Gen 2, 4 out of 6 movesets for Machamp feature Steel moves, which are completely useless for an attacking Machamp. I have ruined 3 great Machops so far, and I really want those candies back!

Just evolved a bunch of good mons like rhydon and a champ and got the worst possible move sets (one or two had Okay move sets but the rest were basically useless) I then evolved my dratini to get a dragonite with DT/H. I agree with you never got lucky with movesets but this dragonite was a success
