Evolution items depend on location?

Since gen 2 launched I've gotten 16 evolution items and the distribution is no where close to being even. I've gotten 3 metal coats, 3 sun stones, 1 dragon scale, 0 upgrade, and 8 king's rocks. Has anyone else been getting a lot of one item? This could mean that something else is influencing which items drop.

Both Upgrades were from 7 day bonuses, luckily I happen to have two 100% IV Porygon to use them on, but damned if I don't want something different.

I really don't think it's dependent on location: my wife and I both play, we spin the same pokestops, and we've gotten very different evolution items. She got three dragon scales early on while I finally just got one recently. Conversely I have three metal coats and she's still looking for her first.
