Already submitted bug report to Niantic, but was seeing if anyone here knew a solution.

The bug is everytime I go to fight a certain gym, I get as far the white letters saying "GO" fading before the system kicks me out with a red error message. Then for ~2mins I can't interact with any pokestops or other gyms and a red network issue message comes up each time I try.
Doesn't happen with the other two gyms nearby, just this one gym in particular.
Anyone face a similar issue before?

Had the same issue before. Not a real solution but closing the app then turning off Location then Mobile Data for 5 seconds.. then turning everything back on and starting the app sometimes helps but not always. Also had connection issues soon after with 'Unable to Authenticate' so maybe not the best fix.

Ya, forgot to put that I tried re-logging and was blocked out for the same ~2mins.

Wait, so you're saying restarting the app+Location+Mobile Data fixes the no interaction part or the bugged gym part?

The gym bug yes.. I've only witnessed this on one occasion since the new update though. And I think it resulted in an error mid-battle.

Well, then no. My bug is you can't even battle, like it get's the the white "GO" and then kicks you out so you technically can't even battle or anything.

The error mid-battle was after I restarted the app with the fix I mentioned.

Yeah I've had this problem too. It's extremely frustrating. Like you mentioned in the comments below, it happens after the message flashes "Go" and the game kicks you out with an "Error" message in a red banner. It happens about a quarter of the time and when it does I observed that an error mostly occurs when:
- My app freezes during gym loading, had to force quit the app, log back in and then I repeatedly get gym error messages for the next ten minutes as I attempt to battle an opposing/friendly gym.
- When there are way too many people/bots fighting in the same gym.
- I fight an opposing team with a group and leave while the battle is still going on.

In either case, what works for me was waiting for 10 minutes after the gym error message and then I can start battling after I come back.

Same as what I said to previous replier, NOT SAME BUG.
My bug happens 100% not just a quarter of the time, doesn't freeze the game, just interaction, I'm doing this in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep and this gym's been sitting on the same prestige for about a week.

It is a really annoying issue. It happens because of the GPS going off the "gym zone". As I've observed it could be a mechanism from Niantic to prevent cheating but I thing it is totally useless. I've tried to do every possible thing like restarting, clear cache... but the only thing that really works is to wait 5 minutes. After 5 minutes everything is back to normal. It is like a "soft ban" particularly applied on that user and that gym and disappears automatically after 5 minutes.

Don't think that's my issue. I literally stand on the gym and when I get kicked out, avatar is still standing on gym.

Your description is truly thorough!
To add to it, I'll add that in my case the "GO" writing is fading slowly, then hanging for a few seconds (2-3), then I'm getting the annoying red "Error" message, and then I can't re-enter this or any other gym or pokestop for 1-2 minutes since I'm getting the annoying red "Network Error" message.
After a little wait (1-2 minutes) everything is back to normal, without changing or doing nothing much.
Closing the app, turning off the location, restarting the device, and any other action just don't do nothing.
Moreover, if I'll log out and log in again, I'll get the annoying "Authentication Error" message.

I got this bug for 1 gym constantly, and I'm still getting it there - so it feels like hackers are doing something annoying to that gym.
I also already reported this issue to Niantic.

I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, but half an hour after my report the gym next to the problematic gym became empty all of the sudden, without any fight.
Maybe they got my location somehow and missed the gym? Or maybe it's just a pure coincidence, and I missed the fight? Don't know...

This issue is similar to another issue that was reported here - Gym network error

Having had the same problem, restarting my phone and even clearing the cache was a short term fix as the next fight locked me out again.

Best solution so far was me walking over to a pokestop like a minute away, walking back, and re-engaging the gym, and then, no problems (until at least 10 more fights or so later I think.)

Was playing with a buddy and ONLY happened when I accidentally left the battle one pokemon earlier than we were planning to stop at during each run.
