Dratini's Community Day has once again come and gone, and at its end came a brand new mystery for trainers: a mysterious Pokemon that began following of its own accord, and golden Pokestops that granted strange, golden coins that bare the visage of this strange Pokemon. Well, fortunately we didn't have to wait too long for answers, as The Pokemon Company has officially unveiled that our little stalker was none other than Gimmighoul.

Grimmighoul is a Ghost Type Pokemon (so much for our Bug/Steel hypothosis!) from the Paldea region (Generation 9, the upcoming Scarlet/Violet versions) with a habit of collecting golden coins, In fact, this is a Pokemon that comes in two different formes; the one that we encountered in Pokemon Go is known as its Roaming Forme, where it can freely move about. Meanwhile, there's also its Chest Forme, where-in it lives inside of a treasure chest filled with the gold coins that we've already seen. And on the topic of these formed, The Official Pokemon Youtube channel has released another video highlighting this unique Pokemon and its two formes:

This is a particularly interesting video, as it seems to suggest that Roaming Forme Grimmighoul may not be available for capture in the main-line games themselves, and may be transfer-exclusive from Pokemon Go in a manner similar to Meltan and Melmetal (who share Grimmighoul - Roaming Forme's color scheme, interestingly enough). Meanwhile, the Chest form may suggest that we'll be able to transfer select Pokemon from Violet/Scarlet to Go, but it's far more likely that the coins that we collected at the tail-end of Dratini Community Day may be used to initiate a forme-change from Roaming to Chest Forme in Pokemon Go. If this theory is correct, then this would also mark the first item-based forme change that we've seen.

Needless to say, this is all speculation at this point, as most theories revolve around game mechanics or concepts that aren't fully implemented in our current version of Pokemon Go. regardless, it should be very interesting to see just how Grimmighoul and the rest of the new cast from the Paldea Region will play out in Pokemon Go moving forward.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release on November 18, so we should get our answers fairly soon at least!
