Pokemon Violet and Scarlet, the latest games in the classic Pokemon game series, are almost here, and with them we've seen a number of new Pokemon announced. However, we now have what may very well be the first legitimate leak from the games that we've seen: An unannounced Pokemon!

When skimming through the most recent updates to Pokemon Go as they do, our friends at Pokeminers discovered something very curious, and have gone on social media to share it:

A New Pokemon?

This yet-unnamed Pokemon appears to be a small, gray, insectoid creature with large, golden eyes that resemble glasses and what appears to be a coin held on its back by what we assume to be a tail. Based on its appearance, it seems that it may be a Bug Type Pokemon, with Steel Type also being easy to speculate due to its gray coloration and the coin-like object held to its back.

So what is this? Well, we saw Meltan teased in Pokemon Go before any sort of announcement was made, so we can speculate that this may be a new Mythical Pokemon that could be a tie-in between Pokemon Go and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet? Only time will tell, but this is a fairly interesting turn of events regardless!

The assumed Pokedex number of 1,080 is actually very interesting. As of right now, the national Pokedex ends at #905, Enamorus, so this would insinuate that the new games could introduce 175 or more new Pokemon. This is pure speculation, but the high number on this file also makes it seem more likely that this is, indeed, a Mythical Pokemon, as Mythical pokemon tend to come at the very end of their region's Pokedex.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet release internationally on November 18, 2022, so we shouldn't have to wait too long to discover the truth behind this enigmatic Pokemon!
