Don't worry too much about solo evolving it without a lucky egg--the most you gain is the 500 extra exp from each evolution, (an extra 1000 total) which is just ~5 catches. So, I can't say whether to wait or evolve, but don't feel like you have to evolve a bunch of other stuff at the same time.
The anguish of delaying the evolution isn't worth the very slight experience loss. I've also seen people pass up catching a new pokemon because they were going to evolve a new one... passing up the 160 exp and 300 stardust (and extra roll of the IV/moveset dice on that new poke) for 500 more new-pokemon exp later is a pretty bad trade IMO.
