We have had a number of constants that have remained pretty solid throughout our now 7-year time in Pokemon Go. Mewtwo has always been great, you're always going to get kicked out of your local gym mere minutes before you can score your 50 daily coins, and someone is always going to bring a Blissey to a raid. Among those constants, one that has endured since Pokemon Go saw its first raids back in 2017 has been the unalienable fact that legends don't evolve. Well, turns out that Alola goes about things a bit differently than other regions, because I'd like to introduce you to the puffy little galaxy-cloud that is Cosmog!
Cosmog is our new little Psychic Type buddy that has been introduced for the Season of Light, and it's breaking the mold. Not only is this little Legendary Pokemon capable of evolving, it's a literal 3-stage evolution! And now that we've hit the appropriately-named Evolving Stars event, it's actually possible to raise little Cosmog into its next stage; Cosmoem!
Cosmoem is the second-stage of Cosmog, and it's... bad This is a Pokemon with a huge Defense stat, and what is arguably the worst possible moveset in the game, meaning it's virtually worthless. But this begs the question: "How do I evolve my worthless little cloud into an even more worthless caged marble?" Well, now that the Evolving Stars event has started, we can finally answer that question! And the answer is:
- 25 Cosmog Candy
Yup, that's all that it takes. "But if Cosmoem is so bad", some of you may ask, "why should I even bother?" Because, my dear friend, Cosmoem also evolves, this time taking on the rather imposing form of either Solgaleo or Lunala!
Solgaleo is Psychic/Steel, and Lunala is Psychic/Ghost, and both have a lot of potential in Pokemon Go. We don't know what their final movesets will end up being for sure yet, but these alone make keeping up with your Cosmog/Cosmoem worth the hassle. So how do we evolve Cosmoem into Solgaleo/Lunala? The answer is simple!
- Wait for a future event
We'll most likely gain access to these Legendary Pokemon near the end of November as the Season of Light comes to a close, so don't stress it too much right now. In the meantime, enjoy your new Cosmog, and best of luck on our upcoming events!
Fun Fact About Cosmoem
According to Bulbapedia, Cosmoem is a tiny little thing, coming in at a mere 4 inches in size. This little Pokemon can fit into the palm of your hand easily. However, you do not want to try this, as this tiny little speck also weighs 2,204.4 pounds! That's right, this is basically a marble that weighs 1.1 tons. Does this information change anything? Nope. Is it interesting? Yup!
