Here we go! September's Community Day has been announced, and it's a fairly interesting one. This time around we can look forward to the pure Rock Type Pokemon Roggenrola and its evolutions, as well as a brand new Rock Type charged move. We've got a number of interesting implications here, so let's get into it.

Meteor Beam Gigalith
A new move brings new viability, so what exactly does this Community Day have in store for Gigalith? For these forecasts, we're going to use the stats that have currently been datamined. Keep in mind that Niantic can make sudden changes pre-release, and has done so in the past, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
Meteor Beam Gigalith in the Raid Meta
Meteor Beam is an objectively good move that gives Gigalith a very real advantage. As it sits, it's right around Shadow Golem but with a superior TDO, which puts it in the upper echelon of Rock Type attackers. However, it does fall behind the titans of the type like Rampardos and Rhyperior. If you don't have a full Rock Type team then it's a great Pokemon, but if you do then it probably isn't going to do much for you.
Meteor Beam Gigalith in the PvP Meta
While Meteor Beam is clearly a fantastic move, with high power and a guaranteed attack boost, it doesn't quite work with Gigalith. Gigalith is frail with disadvantageous typing. Combine this with its low energy generation and you've got a mon that may never even reach Meteor Beam in the first place. While there is some potential for a better fast move in the future, Meteor Beam Gigalith is likely more of a PvE mon than PvP. If you want to, evolve one with Meteor Beam for Great and Ultra League, but there's a pretty fair chance it'll just sit in your box looking pretty like every other Gigalith.
