Steelix: Why heavy slam?

I think HS is harder to dodge or at least is the same thing than crunch and has STAB. I wouldn't rate crunch as a B worse than Eq tough, since dark has a better coverage than steel, since water and fire, his most likely counters resists steel.

STAB...although I will assume if you fight something weak to dark, crunch will be around the same.

It doesn't start using it that much earlier, and it should build up energy quickly enough so it's not like crunch gets used that much more often. Plus Heavy Slam has STAB, so it actually does more damage, comparable damage per energy, and way more DPS. All of the simulations showed Heavy Slam being heads and tails above Crunch.
