0.57.4 and goldygold Karp

Is it possible to catch shinies with 0.57.4!? I don't have the update available and I caught hundreds of karps with my friend. Yesterday, an hour after my friend did the update he caught a shiny magikarp. Thank you and sorry for the bad english!

This event is fun! I'm almost at a one gyarados worth of candies a day, it was my days off though, gotta return to work! Just hope we are not missing anything!

Yes, the shinies come from the server side, so you can catch them even with the previous version, the problem is I think it will not show as shiny after you catch them until you restart the app, so beware.

Ah! Thank you, I wasn't sure since there still shiny stuff added in the coding of the new version apparently. Relieved!

Well, that's a bummer if true. I've probably transferred 100 newly caught presumably non-shiny Karps without restarting the app. But thanks for the heads up.

I understand you will get a warning ("Are you sure you want to transfer this shiny ...?"), so don't worry.

i think I read somewhere that there is a marker in the entry in the pokedex if you have caught the shiny. At least i am hoping so was only about 20 i caught before restarting app (the new normal model is a darker orange)
