Dragonite DT/O iv 71, worthy to power up?

Been frustrated after evolving 2 steel wings in a row with high iv. Shall I power up this low iv one? (Level 18 with 150 candies)

How hard are Dratini candies to come by and what are you going to use it as? If you need attackers IVs don't really matter movesets do power it up! I can't answer the part if you need defenders. I really enjoy that moveset and plan to max mines out.

DT/O is a very good defender but like anything that isn't Blissey and Snorlax it falls pretty fast, but if someone messes around and brings the wrong Pokemon to the battle they'll be punished severely. DT is a very good defensive moveset.

Out of all the Dragonite defending movesets, DT/O is probably one of the best. Ranked #1 by Gamepress but I feel DT/Hurricane and SW/DC are more or less equal. Regardless of their ranking, none of them will do very well against a double-ice or double-dragon attacker though, so it depends on what you mean by 'is he really a good defender' - the answer is probably NO, because people all know how to counter dragonites.

If you're looking for a defender then powering up your high IV dragonites for pure-CP would be wiser. If you were hoping for a high IV DT/O for attack and defense then well I'm afraid you may have to keep looking, or take another chance with the 150 candies you have.

If he needs a high CP defender he has them w/ his SWs.(He's prob cautious to roll the dice. 125 candies is alot of really precious candies to waste) I would personally power up DT/O since you can never have too many Pokemon w/ the ability to take out Blissey. You can also stick it in the gym if needed. It's CP won't be awful since 71 Ivs isn't exactly 0. Most people forget while most Dragonites in the gym are high CP not all of them are 100 IV.

Yeah that's the thing about rolling the dice... you could win but you could lose too.

OP: a 71% DT/O dragonite is pretty decent, it will perform well in battles because that 29% IV difference from a perfect dragonite will not cost you a battle (ie make you lose where you should have won), neither will it add more than, say 5 seconds, than battling a similar battle with a 100% perfect specimen.

Also, at 71%IV, as a defender its CP would be higher than Rhydon or Gyra (same tier-2.5 defenders) of the same level anyway.

So if you're happy with this situation go ahead and power it up.

Yes they do.

Ok, show me a difference between a 71 IV and a 100 IV Pokemon w/ the same moveset on video. The idea of IVs only exist in your mind. Sure it might make a miniscule difference in seconds, but hey if you want to risk those few seconds for another SW go for it. For casual players Movesets > IVs esp like he said he has several great IV SWs which are pretty much useless for attacking.

If you will not max the pokemon, then a 71% and 100% are in essence equal - as long as you are willing to power up the 71% three to four more times at a cost of candy and stardust.
