Saw a Level 40 account today
Odds it's legit?

Honestly, living in NYC we just have volume, so going outside for a walk to some is like a heavy farming sess in a rural area. I like to hit nests, not primarily to farm, but to take advantage of whatever mon is at my disposal for 2 weeks, so that adds to grinding. I have like 600 caught Charmander, I think. And finally mass evolves a few times a week.
I'll tell you sum' even crazier, I don't even really grind on weekends. I have a daughter, and my visitation is sat/sun, so she comes over, word.
I'm hitting level 40 tomorrow and I'm legit. Obviously I play a lot more than most people, and no I don't play with lucky eggs on nor do I go to places filled with rattata and pidgey. That's disgustingly boring.
During the double candy events, people who went to pidgey and rattata spawns easily did 300-350k daily xp, and there was also the double xp back on thanksgiving which had the potential to grant several million xp to players who had been stocking candy for a while. So those who took advantage of those opportunities have probably already reached level 40. Then there are the people who just spend a hell lot more money in this game than I do, too.
I did use lucky eggs for evolving, but after level 30 I only bought two packs of 8 eggs (that's like 1.2 million xp total). I just always have my game on when I'm walking around... deliberately farming for XP is a boring goal for me, I like playing the game and having fun while doing it.
While I love battling, and as an example, I love Dragonite, I absolutely despise spending all my stardust on the same few mon for throwing on gyms... which is why I have lots of unusual mon powered up to level 39, such as my Golduck, Nidoqueen and Tentacruel. Proud of every single one of them (100% IVs with best movesets).
I don't like any of those youtubers. (I esp found them funny when they ran out of content. The high school kid who plays is pretty unbearable to me. The other guy Ben is incredibly hilarious also. Yeah if we used trackers we'd have 10+ Snorlax, Dragonite, and Lapras too.) All of them use trackers and is a good reason why they have so many great Pokemon and such. Trainer Tips or whatever seems to be legit, but he's a pretty low level trainer who primarily VLogs. The other Youtuber I really like is Prodigy Nation his dodging and gym mechanics is pretty legit.
my 9 year old kid learned to dodge and counter type from this guy, poke ak. To this day he enjoys watching he's videos. So am I occasionally.
I think he pushed hard for lvl 40 this year, changed his play style probably. If I'm not wrong he was "only 37" at year start and seamed focused on gyms rather than farming for xp.
Sure. There are lots out there.
If I had spent less time battling gyms and dedicated that time of playing in to grinding catches and evolves, then I would be further along.
Getting into gyms is actually the less efficient way to play, XP wise - as you spend a lot of time playing but not getting very much XP for your time.
I guess it all depends on how you prefer to spend your time in game.
Nice! Congrats. I know two Trainers from NYC that hit 40 before Thanksgiving. I'm 39, and also don't play on lucky eggs, nor bubble strat or spend time at pidgey nests, lol. Just always playing like you said. What was your start date?
Our games sound similar, can you post your Collecter Medal? If you don't mind of course I'd like to see how many catches you have. Thanks.
