Incense Day: Type Shuffle : Spawn Spotlight

Submit Feedback or Error

More information about Incense Day : Type Shuffle can be found here. It is a 6 hour event that encourages the use of Incense to spawn different Pokemon that can normally be found using the item. Spawns for Sentret will be boosted throughout the day and every hour will feature a different Pokemon type, outlined below.

Initial announcements for Incense Day outlined 4 featured Pokemon per hour with one being a rarer spawn than the other three. More spawns of the featured type have been reported to be showing up, but we expect the majority of spawns to be those discussed below.

One last caveat before we get started; Sunday ticket holders for Safari Zone Liverpool… Well… Who knows what you’re going to see. You may miss out on this event completely, or you may have some mix of Liverpool and Incense Day spawns. Reach out and let us know!

Shiny images can further breakdowns can be found by navigating to each Pokemon's individual pages.

  • Pokemon Type: Normal
  • Boosted Weather: Partly Cloudy
  • Shiny Available: *Boosted Rate*
  • Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)
  • *Available All Event*

Furret unfortunately isn’t that useful. It has saw use in the Ferocious Cup, but it's charge moves are the incredibly weak Brick Break, alondside the rather expensive Dig and Hyper Beam. This requires Furret to shield bait and makes it a little risky to use.

11AM-Noon Water-Types

  • Pokemon Type: Water
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy
  • Availability: Uncommon
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Nothing

The day kicks off with a rare Pokemon that isn’t particularly useful. Collectors should note that Clamperl has a random branching evolution similar to Eevee and Wurmple, so you may need to evolve multiple shinies to complete your collection.

  • Pokemon Type: Water
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: GBL (Great, Ultra)

Poliwrath is an incredible Pokemon in both the Great and Ultra League, where it maxes out right above the 2500 CP cap. It’s ability to quickly charge up moves with a wide variety of type coverage makes it a consistently threatening leading Pokemon.

Politoed isn’t quite as ubiquitous but definitely has the better shiny! In Ultra League, Politoed does see some use, though has overall more expensive moves than Poliwrath. It also likes to make use of Legacy Earthquake, which probably isn’t worth an Elite TM just yet.

  • Pokemon Type: Water, Poison
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy, Cloudy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

Tentacruel can challenge core meta pokemon, most notably Azumaril and Registeel, making it immediately useful.

  • Pokemon Type: Water, Ice
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy, Snow
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: Raids, GBL (Great)

Walrien is not the first Ice-type Pokemon you think of for raiding but with so many Pokemon double weak to Ice it can be an excellent budget option if you can catch and evolve a high level Spheal.

Sealeo, the middle evolution, is a great pokemon in the Great League. It can best format all-stars like Azumarill, Altaria, mudbois and more.

Noon-1PM Fire-Types

  • Pokemon Type: Fire, Ghost
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Fog
  • Availability: Uncommon
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: Raids

Chandelure is a premiere dual type attacking, making it one of the best investments in the game for Raiding content as an amazing Fire and Ghost attacker.

  • Pokemon Type: Fire
  • Boosted Weather: Clear
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Raids (Draft)

Arcanine is pretty far from the top echelon of Fire attackers. It doesn’t even crack the top (arca)nine.

  • Pokemon Type: Fire
  • Boosted Weather: Clear
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Nothing

This is the best shiny featured this hour, but it’s not on a very useful Pokemon.

  • Pokemon Type: Fire, Dark
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Fog
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Raids (Draft)

Houndoom is a mid-tier Dark-type, which means that there’s a few Dark-types and a plethora of Ghost-types that you can use instead of it. This has kept it off the Attackers Tier List, but Dark’s constant usage frequently means it shows up as a Flavor of the Month.

1-2PM Grass-Types

  • Pokemon Type: Grass, Steel
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Snow
  • Availability: Uncommon
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: GBL (Great, Ultra)

Recent buffs in April’s rebalance have made March’s research breakthrough a potent threat in the Great and Ultra Leagues as a Grass-type with a bunch of extra resistances that Steel-typing brings!

  • Pokemon Type: Grass, Poison
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Cloudy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: GBL (Great)

Gloom, Vileplume, and now Bellossom too all have uses in the Great League, though Bellossom may want to be Shadow forme or have Return from purification.

  • Pokemon Type: Grass, Poison
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Cloudy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Raids, Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

Roserade is an amazing dual attacker… except you won’t need a Poison-type with any haste. Still, the fact that it’s the best Grass attacker and will eventually be useful as a Poison-type is a great bonus!

There’s much better Grass-types for PvP, but it’s a serviceable budget option, even unevolved.

  • Pokemon Type: Grass, Rock
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Partly Cloudy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

Cradily has seen some use in a variety of Silph Cups and is a big benefactor of the buffs to Bullet Seed as it can now quickly charge to its expensive moves.

2-3PM Psychic-Types

  • Pokemon Type: Psychic
  • Boosted Weather: Windy
  • Availability: Uncommon
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

Gothitelle hasn’t had the chance to show itself yet in a Silph Cup but its unique movepool will probably make it useful in the future.

  • Pokemon Type: Psychic, Water
  • Boosted Weather: Windy, Rainy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

Slowbro’s got the better (cheaper) moves and sees some use in Cups and Ultra League.

  • Pokemon Type: Psychic, Ground
  • Boosted Weather: Windy, Clear
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

Claydoll’s unique typing gives it a slew of weaknesses, but opens it up for use in a few type-restrictive cups. Still, the top mostly falls flat.

Pokemon Type: Psychic, Steel

Boosted Weather: Windy, Snow

Availability: Common

Shiny Available: Yes

Useful In: GBL (Great)

Bronzong is a solid Pokemon in every sense of the term. It has good typing, good stats, and a good move pool, which combine to make it a very powerful Pokémon in its own right.

3-4PM Bug-Types

  • Pokemon Type: Bug, Electric
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy
  • Availability: Uncommon
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: GBL (Great)

Galvantula can quickly charge up and dish out a variety of different Charge Moves, making this Bug-type an unpredictable and scary threat against the Great League at large.

Pokemon Type: Bug

Boosted Weather: Rainy

Availability: Common

Shiny Available: Yes

Useful In: Nothing

Venomoth outclasses it in every way

  • Pokemon Type: Bug, Flying
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy, Windy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: Nothing

This can’t even be shiny making it the worst featured spawn of the event. So… it’s got that going for it.

  • Pokemon Type: Bug, Poison
  • Boosted Weather: Rainy, Cloudy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: GBL (Great, Ultra)

Drapion is a wonderful Pokemon in PvP. With 3 viable Fast and 4 viable Charge moves, there’s a lot this Pokemon can do. This suits it pretty well for Silph Cups where it’s been a great pick multiple times. In GBL itself, the jack of all trades master of none approach is a lot less useful.

4-5PM Ground-Types

  • Pokemon Type: Ground
  • Boosted Weather: Clear
  • Availability: Uncommon
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: Raids, GBL (Master)

The best non-legendary Ground-type attacker.

In the Master League, its a Ground-type with additional weaknesses to Ground and Fighting-type attacks also there to counter Dialga. It's still passable if you need a Ground-type, but not the best.

  • Pokemon Type: Ground, Water
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Rainy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: No
  • Useful In: GBL (Great)

Despite Quaqsire’s dopey look it’s a serious contender in the Great League. It’s slower than the other mudbois, meaning it’s probably best off in Draft and Cups, but it’s a great Pokemon still.

  • Pokemon Type: Ground, Water
  • Boosted Weather: Clear, Rainy
  • Availability: Common
  • Shiny Available: Yes
  • Useful In: GBL (Great)

Whishcash is the premiere “mudboi” in the Great League and quite possibly the most useful Pokemon in this entire event. That said, it’s not a particularly rare Pokemon outside of this event to begin with, so your excitement here may vary.

Pokemon Type: Ground

Boosted Weather: Clear

Availability: Common

Shiny Available: Yes

Useful In: Limited PvP (Silph Cups, Draft)

Hippowndon has already seen use in a few different cups, and access to 4 different Fast moves means it’ll likely always be a niche pick.

Collectors should note there are two different shinies to collect here, as different gendered hippos have significant color differentiations.
