In a sudden and unexpected shake-up of the egg-pool, Niantic has announced that 7k eggs will exclusively hatch Fossil Pokemon for the foreseeable future.
For those unaware, Fossil Pokemon are Pokemon in the main series that have been deemed extinct or ancient/rare in modern days, but are revivable via fossils. All Fossil Pokemon currently available in Pokemon Go are at least part rock-type and are based on prehistoric animals (Despite popular beliefs, the Lileep family is not based on plants, but most likely a type of primitive oceanic invertibret called a crinoid)
Confirmed Hatches
This marks the first event to feature the Archen and Tirtouga families, and it's been announced that Riolu, generally considered the main prize of 7k eggs, will be relegated to 10k eggs for the duration of this event.
We don't know how long this event will last, but it's time to start hatching!
Full Announcement
Trainers,
It appears something strange has happened with the Eggs you can receive from Gifts: 7 km Eggs are now hatching only fossil Pokémon!
Here’s what we know so far.
- The fossil Pokémon Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, and Archen are now the only Pokémon hatching from 7 km Eggs.
- These fossil Pokémon will no longer be hatching from 2, 5, and 10 km Eggs.
- Riolu will now be hatching from 10 km Eggs.
We aren’t sure how long this phenomenon will last, but we can assure you that Spark is on the case. Be sure to follow us on social media, opt in to receiving push notifications, and subscribe to our emails to stay updated. Let’s GO!
