On whom to invest

I m at level 21. Presently my best pokemons are:

Vaporeon 84%IV 12/15/11 Water gun / Aqua tail Exeggute 84%IV 13/12/13 Zen headbutt / Seed bomb Tangela 91%IV 15/15/11 Wine whip / Power whip Starmie 88.9%IV 14/11/15 Tackle / Power Gem Hitmonchan 93%IV 15/12/15 Bullet Punch / Fire Punch

Should i wait for a 95%+ IV Tier-1 pokemon with Grade A move sets (which is a total gamble) or out of the above which one or two should i follow to power-up ???

Could you include CPs as well? I wouldn't invest in numbers 3, 4 and 5. Also, I assume number two should be an exeggutor?

yes No. 2 is an exeggutor.

CPs are as under
1. 1385 (power-up but not maxed for level 21)
2. 1155
3. 982
4. 1035
5. 849

3, 4, 5 which is best ?

From this list I would power up your vaporeon.
It is a pity that your exeggutor has this moveset. If you have plenty of stardust and haven't really powered up any other pokemons you can upgrade this one as well.

I got an exeggutor with the same move set but decided not to power it up. However, if I was level 21 and got him it might have been a different situation.

Don't bother about 3, 4 and 5. You will get better pokemon in the future hopefully!

I would power up the Vaporeon, AT is good on attack and on def. Also the IV's are fine. There is no real difference between 84% and 95% IV's because the base stats cover majority of the stats of a Pokemon. E.g., your Vaporeon's real attack is 186+12 (*level modifier, but that does not matter here), which is 98,5% of the best possible case (186+15).

Thanks man. If i have to choose a 2nd one with Vaporeon, which one should i consider to power up till i find a better pokemon.

Level 21 is too low to use stardust. If I were you, I will wait until I get to at least level 27-28 to use stardust. At that level you can catch/evolve Vaporeon/Exeggutor at 1800-2000CP.

If we want to be autistic with this, one should not spend dust before ?level 30? (to get be able to catch as high level Pokemon as one can catch in the game), but that is not exactly fun.

At lvl 20 one starts to have the possibility to hatch as high level Pokemon that can be hatched. Gym battles help one to get incubators. So, spending dust at lvl 21 to improve your team is not complete waste.

It's just my opinion and it should not affect anyone from enjoying fun playing PoGO :). I find it really fun when catching/evolving a new pokemon, waiting to see a 10km egg to hatch, battling and winning a stronger opponent with your tiny pokemon and don't have to worry too much about IVs or movesets.

I agree on Sapral with this one. You can select a few pokemon you want to invest your dust in, but you should not exaggerate. It takes significant time to level up once you hit level 20.

That being said, one should keep in mind what you stated that Pokemons get stronger until level 30. E.g., I currently don't consider evolving pokemon which come out of eggs anymore because I find them too low in CP. I rather catch them in wild and hope for high CP.

First off, if you want good answers, tell us what levels your pokemons are (it is much more interesting than knowing your CP).

Regarding your question, wait until you are a higher level before starting to spend stardust.

Power up #1 it is Byte far the you got there. #2 is also great but there are better movesets so Save your candys to evolve another one. If you can't wait and Need a second one it will be nice to regardless of his moves.

3,4,5 are NOT worth to be powered up in any case. There are all low in max CP even with good movests. So Save your stardust and use it for something out of the gym attacker/defender tierlists

TBH I wouldn't power up any of them. Part of the reason (already mentioned above) is that as you level up some more as a trainer, you'll catch higher level pokemon that will ultimately be less of a stardust investment to get to lvl 30 (or lvl 40 if you're feeling ambitious). Vaporeons, in particular, are a dime a dozen (at least where I play - dunno about your local area). The other reason is that while #1 is clearly good and #2 could be situationally useful as a defender, #s 3, 4, and 5 are all third-rate pokemon (at best). I think a good strategy regarding powering pokemon up is choosing pokemon from tiers 1 & 2 on the best attackers and defenders pages.

Edit - one more thought: if you're currently lacking high-level pokemon for gym play (capturing/defending/training), then evolve the Vaporeon. You can never have too many good Vaporeons.

Vaporeon Wouldn't even consider the rest.

None of them. You will definitely get better ones soon. Your Vape is pretty good but damn they are boring and overrated.

Might be little different from majority, but i would say first 3 pokemons are all good. But you actually would want your tangela to stay low lvl as it is very good for destroying vaporeons, even with power whip instead of solar beem. Keep it below 1000CP and quite soon you realise how much more useful in gameplay it will be in comparison with 2k cp perfect iv water gun/hydropump vaporeon for example.

As for 2 pokemon, exeggutor do not really have bad movesets. There are better movesets and slightly worse movesets but they all good and usable. It could easily be gym defender not grade of top-3, but absolutely in top-10 defenders.

Despite of what is commonly said, stardust nowhere near rare. There is absolutely no need to accumulate great amounts of it, it will gather naturally in amounts usually exceeding your needs, if you not go in powerup rampage. There will be some moment in game when you will feel that it's not enough, when you need to pull like 10-15 good pokemons to your lvl. As soon as you do it, it will start accumulating, it's quite easy to keep your squad lvling with you after that. Usually there not big amounts of pokemons worthy to power up, you will see it yourself. I would recommend to get about 10 defenders with high CP potential for gym-sitting at high spots. Vaporeon and exeggcute both fine at this job.

You wouldn't go wrong with powering your vaporeon, and unlikely to regret powering Exeggutor. If you want it, go for it, it's nowhere near difficult to power up like 6 pokemons as you lvl and still have stardust stock increasing.

Agree, dust is not that precious as people sugest. Once you have your 4-5 pokemons full level , keeping them high is easy, it needs 2 powerups per pokemon. Then the dust starts acumulating .

I don't know your level, but once they hit 4500 then youre almost spending 50,000 per level up. Thats just to keep up with your 5 Pokemon. Power new ones and it's easily 100,000. That's not cheap at all.

As you can probably suggest by looking at the Tier Lists, Vaporeon and Exeggutor are by far the superior choices to power up.

If your very active and use lucky eggs I would not power up any of those pokemon, yet. The pokemon you catch when your at level 28 are gonna be almost double in size to what your catching now. I would try to save stardust till you reach level 28 before investing heavily in any pokemon. Stardust is definitely rare and should be used sparingly. If you are tight with your stardust you will have no problem powering your best mons. Im level 31 and there are pokemon I powered up at your level that I do not use and will most likely transfer. At this point in the game I will only power up common pokemon such as Eevee, Growlithe and Exeggute if they are at least level 28, 85-90% IV and get the moveset I desire(usually gym defense). Once youve reached level 30 you will have so much good stuff you will just end up getting pickier..

Thanks everybody, but i think to earn free poke coins from Gym and to balance my stardust, i will only power up my Vaporeon. till then i wait for increasing my level and if i find a Lapras/ Dragonite/ Snorlax with desired move set then will think about it.
