In another new marketing move by Niantic, we have a new partnership with the well known mobile carrier Verizon to bring its customers a new event and special set of avatar items.
Verizon Event
Start Time | End Time |
---|---|
11:00 a.m. Local Time | 2:00 p.m. Local Time |
- Players with Verizon can unlock tickets here (allegedly) up until the event begins. Players can then input the ticket code here to confirm access.
- Timed research will be available, granting players XP, Stardust, 3x Incense, 1x Star Piece, 100 Charizard Mega Energy, and encounters with Chansey, Spoink, Absol, Bronzor, Gible, and Sewaddle
- Incense will last for one hour and attract a special set of Pokemon, including Unown V and Z
As of right now, the site to claim your tickets does not seem to be working properly. This is likely to be fixed in the coming hours.
Verizon Avatar Items
A special mask and hoodie are now available for players... but redeeming them is a bit of a hassle. Again, these are exclusive to Verizon customers.
How to Claim
Note that this may change in the coming hours, but this is how I personally managed to claim my avatar set. Go to the Verizon Pokemon Go Site first and log in. On this page, you will see areas for the avatar items that have a button titled "Download fit" for some odd reason. Ignore these. Instead, go down to the area that lets you claim an item bundle:
Note that this page seems to go down frequently.
Copy your code (which cannot be transferred), and then return to the images of the avatar items and click the "Download fit" button (Seriously, why "Download fit"?). From here, log into your Niantic account (it's safe, this is a registered Niantic domain) and enter the code.
When doing this, I did not get the item bundle, and instead received the avatar items after a few minutes. Yes, this is a bit messed up, but it worked for me.
