When it comes right down to it, one of the most criticized aspects of the "Go Beyond" update to Pokemon Go was the introduction of Candy XL. While in theory it works, as it gave players a limited research with which to raise a Pokemon past Lv.40, the reality has been rather disappointing to many players due to just how slowly the resource is generated and how absurdly rare Rare Candy XL has turned out to be. However, we may be at the beginning of a small laxing on Niantic's part on this powerful yet scarce resource, as the most recently announced event of the Season of Discovery includes an enhanced method of farming Candy XL for given Pokemon.
....for players who happen to be Lv.40 or over.
Special Raid Weekend
Event Start | Event End |
---|---|
June 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time | June 13, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time |
- Raids will appear more frequently, including Five Star raids
- 2x Catch Candy
- Players Lv.40 and over will have 3x normal odds of obtaining XL candy from Pokemon catches
Note that this event will overlap with the "A Very Slow Discovery" event, meaning the general spawn pool will be far more shallow than average. Still, this would be an outstanding time to check local nests in order to see if anything worthwhile is available. Here's hoping that Niantic continues to give us events like this, and relaxes their XL restrictions a little more moving forward.
