Overview

It is possible to duo Latias in wind with very high level Shadows such as Shadow Salamence and Shadow Dragonite, and Dragons such as Rayquaza and Palkia. Outrage is nearly impossible to beat without extremely deep Dragon teams (no time to revive), but the other two charged moves are achievable with excellent teams.

That said, an overwhelming majority of the player base doesn’t have the team and/or weather to get the duo done. So instead this guide will focus on the unboosted trio. There are plenty of viable options, but be aware of charged moves. Latias’s Outrage is brutal and can quickly force you back in the lobby to revive.

Approach

Team composition

  • If you want to try the duo, try to use Shadow Salamence and Shadow Dragonite for their huge DPS

  • Rayquaza, Salamence, and Haxorus are the VIPs of this fight

  • Palkia, Dragonite, Garchomp, and Darkrai are options that can make great filler or second team members, an can excel in the proper weather conditions

  • Gengar and Chandelure are glassy and have low DPS for the typical Glass Cannon role, but still usable.

  • Dialga is the prime anchor for this battle. Its DPS is a bit lower than the top names, but it can help when it comes to keeping from having to relobby.

  • Outrage will rip through your teams, dragons or not. The big fairy types (Gardevoir, Togekiss, Granbull) aren’t good enough to trio in unboosted but are good anti-Outrage options in cloudy

Dodging strategy

  • If running out of time, dodge less. If having to relobby multiple times, dodge more.

Best Raid Boss Counters

Supreme Counters
Rayquaza Rayquaza
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Best non-shadow DPS option, hits extremely hard.

Cons:

  • Low bulk, basically destroyed by Outrage
  • Legendary Pokemon, can be expensive to raise
Salamence Salamence
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

Cons:

  • Basically deleted by Outrage
  • Best moveset is event-exclusive

Shadow Salamence

The absolute top DPS option for this raid, can definitely help get ahead of the clock.

Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Great performance despite bad charged move due to high attack stat
  • Dragon Claw being a 3-bar move allows for high average performance
  • Resists Thunder

Cons:

  • Deleted by Outrage
  • Currently a very rare species
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Good overall performance with potentially very high DPS given proper energy management.

Cons:

  • Deleted by Outrage
  • Legendary Pokemon, can be expensive to raise
Good Counters
Dragonite Dragonite
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Common species with great overall performance, available from day 1
  • Featured in its own community day and special limited research, very common for most of the player-base

Cons:

  • Deleted by Outrage

Shadow Dragonite

Another outstanding Shadow, Dragonite is a bit bulkier than Shadow Salamence, but has slightly lower DPS.

Garchomp Garchomp
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Good overall performance, especially against Thunder, which it triple-resists

Cons:

  • Currently a rare species
  • Deleted by Outrage
Giratina Origin Forme Pokemon GO Giratina (Origin Forme)
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • High overall performer
  • Resists Thunder

Cons:

  • Weak to Outrage
  • Legendary Pokemon, can be expensive to raise
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Good overall choice, but really shines Vs. Psychic due to double-resistance

Cons:

  • Mythic Pokemon, cannot be traded. If you missed its latest release, you won't have one for this raid.
  • Can be expensive to raise
Gardevoir Gardevoir
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Double-resists Dragon Type movesets, resists Psychic Type movesets
  • Fairly common species, has been featured in several events and its own Community Day

Cons:

  • Not viable for a trio outside of cloudy weather
  • Frail, easily taken down by Thunder

Shadow Gardevoir

In its Shadow Forme, Gardevoir becomes a very reliable choice. With its great resistance set for this raid and solid DPS, Shadow Gardevoir is a generally worthwhile choice, though not generally a top choice.

Glass Cannons

Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Good DPS option for teams lacking power

Cons:

  • Its DPS isn't as high as some may expect, which doesn't make it a very attractive option
  • Weak to Psychic Type movesets and has no resistances
Chandelure Chandelure
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Good overall investment as it can pull double-duty as a Ghost or Fire Type moveset

Cons:

  • Its DPS isn't as high as some may expect, which doesn't make it a very attractive option
  • Currently a very rare species

Tank Counters

Fast MoveCharge MoveRating

Pros:

  • Top TDO option overall. Resists Thunder, takes neutral damage from Outrage, and still sports high DPS. Can help keep from needing to relobby

Cons:

  • Legendary Pokemon, can be expensive to raise
Tyranitar Tyranitar
Fast MoveCharge MoveRating
Bite Crunch Best

Pros:

  • The "old reliable" Psychic and Ghost counter; one of the most common raid bosses historically
  • Double-resists Psychic type

Cons:

  • Not a top counter outside of Psychic movesets

Shadow Tyranitar

Definitely a strong contender, Shadow Tyranitar is a very decent Pokemon when fighting Psychic Type movesets in particular.
