I need to prepare a team of Tyranitars for Mewtwo. But, I don't think I should power up #5, because of the attack stat. For now, I'm powering #2 to L30.
1: Should I gamble with charge TMs on any of the SE Tyranitars to try and get Crunch?
2: Should I power up #3 to L30? He barely misses the IV90 threshold, but has 15 attack stat.
3: Should I fast TM #4?
In case you're wondering why I powered up #3 once, it's because of the breakpoint for Tyranitar's Bite against Lugia at L20.5.

In terms of Mewtwo and attacking with Bite, the attack stat being 15 or not isn't huge. Low power quick moves don't have frequent breakpoints, like high power ones. An attack stat of 15 v. 12 maybe only be 1 damage different per crunch for a given level. Small impact, likely the same as a network lag costing you one last Bite.
To expand on that, T-tar with a 15 attack IV reaches the breakpoint for maximum bite damage at level 27.5. With a 12 attack IV, the breakpoint is level 28. So, very little difference.
And at any level, the difference in damage from crunch between 15 & 12 attack IV's is no more than 1 damage (e.g. 72 vs. 71 at level 28). So, if you launch six crunches, the total damage difference is less than the damage from a single bite.
Put another way, the T-tar with the 12 attack IV can get the same damage output as one with a 15 att IV simply by powering it up one-half level higher, which sounds way more economical to me than gambling a charge TM hoping you get crunch.
