Changes to Kingler. WTH?

While I'm still somewhat irked over yesterday's changes and the threat (ahem! promise) that they'll likely do it again as needed, I think I've mostly come to terms with it. No, I'm not happy that my Arcanines and Exeggutors (in which I had invested serious amounts of stardust) were knocked down. And I'm a bit irritated that Vaporeons are even more buff than before.

But I do have one head scratcher that is really bugging me. I have always carefully cultivated the first 5 or 6 rows of my Pokémon list in the CP sort to show my best attackers/defenders. I've slowly powered up as needed to keep that list just the way I want it. But now I have a 2263 CP Kingler sitting firmly on the first page. And it's bugging the crap out of me. (Yes, there's some OCD at play here.)

Does anyone have any kind of insight or thoughts as to when/how this thing will be even remotely useful? It still has a really low HP (90) and an A-rated moveset (Metal Claw and X-Scissor).
