Best Against Water
Who is the best pokemon to use against water (mainly Vaporeons)? It looks like Exeggutor is the strongest that resists it but his best common attack is ZH which water isn't weak against.

ZH not being SE doesn't really matter, because STAB ZH on Exeggutor still does very similar damage to the common grass type Pokemon used against Vaporeons (Victreebel, Vileplume, Venusaur and Tangela) even when you factor in those moves being STAB + SE, but Exeggutor having higher attack stat means that it's Solar Beam will do more damage than the Solar Beam's of these 4 Pokemon.
Although it's actually Dragonite that's the best counter to Vaporeon. Even though Dragonite has neutral offensive typing, simply because it's attack stat is so high allows it to out DPS grass attackers, while still resisting water just like grass types.
The difference in battle time between say, a VW/Solar Venusaur and a ZH/Solar Exeggutor isn't much, we're talking a difference of seconds.
Even if you don't have one with the best moveset, Exeggutor's still going to be strong against Vaporeons because of it's high attack stat and it still resists water, it just won't be as fast as a ZH/Solar Exeggutor, but not by much.
There isn't really such a thing as a terrible moveset on Exeggutor. I wouldn't hope for seed bomb (my only Exeggutor has that) but even that's decent.
I have a vw/sob Venusaur at around 1300cp so perfect for prestiging but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in how little damage it deals. It bearly takes down a third of a >2500 Vaps health, maybe not even a third.
If it is a high level gym and I know it will gonna take me some time and a nice amount of resources I normally use Dragonite in order to save some potions, for the rest of gyms, Venusaur or Exeggutor are without doubt the best choices.
If you are taking gyms without any hurry and want to have fun I recommend you try Raichu, Tangela and Alakazam, I really enjoy attacking with those mons and I love to use them every time I can, I have a 1850 Raichu and a 2500 Alakazam and it is very nice to actually use them.
