PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Psycho Cut and Future Sight can make Necrozma a respectable Psychic attacker.
  • All of Necrozma's other options don't serve much purpose offensively.

PVE Overview

Necrozma, the star of GO Fest 2024, has arrived. It's a decent Psychic attacker, but the real treats are in its fused formes, Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma. These two formes are some of the most powerful attackers in the game, so be sure to grab them whenever possible. Base Necrozma itself unfortunately isn't spectacular.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Shadow Claw + Future Sight and Dark Pulse

Shadow Claw is Necrozma's superior Fast Attack, boasting good damage, additional coverage, and incredible energy generation. Psycho Cut is a good Fast Attack, but pales in comparison to Shadow Claw because its damage is lacking. Metal Claw is horrible in PvP.

Future Sight offers the highest raw DPE and is further backed by STAB. Dark Pulse is Necrozma's cheapest Charged Attack and also provides good coverage by hitting opposing Psychic- and Steel-type opponents harder than its other moves. Iron Head also has the same cost, but Steel tends to be worse offensive type than Dark. Outrage can be used as a surprise coverage move against Dragon-type Pokemon.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: X / 5

Necrozma is unobtainable in the Great League.

Ultra League: 1.5 / 5

Necrozma is relatively fragile here and faces competition with other Psychic-type Pokemon such as Cresselia and Deoxys-D. While its access to Shadow Claw is notable, you will find more success using Mew if you want that kind of role.

Master League: 3 / 5

Necrozma is not worth running over its two fused formes, but its base kit isn't terrible and may find some use in more limited formats such as Draft. Its stats are overall decent and it can bully other Psychic-type Pokemon thanks to its access to Shadow Claw and Dark Pulse. Its access to Outrage can be potent in a metagame where the strongest Dragon-type Pokemon in the game exist, and Necrozma also benefits from not being weak to Dragon itself.
